Part 2 of 3. Literary value doesn't have to be a vague, abstract concept. In this series, I break down literary value into clear, definable characteristics. In this video, we look at form. Try using the COLV to evaluate a literary work. It's a clear and manageable flowchart! You will not find the COLV in any textbook and I am not a professor of English. I'm a high school English teacher who likes to take complex and abstract concepts and make them easy to understand for students. My hope is that this video helps young people to better understand what makes one literary work superior to another.
