You could invest in stocks, start a side business, or focus on advancing your career. It's important to set goals and make a plan. Remember, wealth can mean different things to different people, One thing i can say that helped me in life to reach my first million was starting early, i got curious and informed i became open to passive income, investments in equities, etfs and the likes. also sought help to handle my portfolio which was my foundation. i'm ever grateful to Anna Rounds Fay my FA.

From 1999 to 2018, I contributed 400 every month to a Vanguard 500 Index fund and 400 every month to a Vanguard 500 Growth fund. The hard part is that the market did very little until 2012. It would have been easy to stop. But, I started increasing the saving during the 2008 drop and eventually by 2018, I had over 1MM in the account. For almost 20 years, I never took a cent out of that account, and I never bought anything but those two funds. I wish I had started 10 years earlier than I did. Only problem is when I took some out to buy a house, I had a lot of taxes to pay!

I have never made over $11 a hour, full time.
I had a 401k that I put 7% in my company put in 3-4%. Every year I got a raise I put 1% more in. I worked there a decade.
There was a loan program that allowed me to buy a house with a second position loan on my 401k.
It was the smartest thing I ever did. A few years later I became disabled. But because I already owned a house, my long term financial out looks, looks pretty good.

It's so true. We married in 73 but didn't start investing until the mid-80s using DRIPs. We called it pizza money investing. Instead of buying beer and pizza one weekend a month, we would send the money to Exxon or one of the other companies that had a DRIP program. Over the years we increased the amounts and diversification. Add in an IRA and then a 401k and raising the amount every year (get a raise, add 1% to the 401k contribution rate). So here we are having just retired and a 2M portfolio to generate dividends from. Don't get me wrong, we made some very stupid mistakes along the way. But it CAN be done.

In a busy world, most people don’t have time to understand their finance, let alone save. It’s important that they do but I can understand why they don’t. I BELIEVE CONTENTMENT of where you are now while growing to where you want to be helps people stay on track.

I have kind of started investing late due to various problems I've faced, but I started in earnest about 5 years ago. I'm almost 50. Been investing at least on average $400 a month over the past 5 years. A lot of my investments are in dividend stocks. I can see that the compounding effect is taking shape, though I need another 4 years to see a large change.

Great video. I'm a fellow creator from the UK and I've been dividend investing for over a decade. It is really amazing how it compounds exponentially. Now bringing in the equivalent of over $1300 a month passive income. I don't spend it but instead reinvest it back in to let it compound over time. Its also completely tax free as I use something called a Stocks and Shares ISA.

I'm glad I got into finances. While I won't be a millionaire anytime in the near future, hopefully in a decade when I'm mid thirties I'll be close!

I got started late, but when my company started a 401k match, I got in on that. If you just put something in every paycheck, it builds up quick.

I invested 10k this year alone hoping everyday for the markets to go back up so I can claim my 50% gains.

Well Said. The data is real. The best time to invest is the next 18 months as an entry in the market... and it is also the same time spare dollars are being swallowed by high prices/inflation. Wealth later is built by Investing now - it's true! I just read a month ago that ...Soon, it will not be a choice for many to NOT invest because of the "Secure Act 2.0" which will require 401ks for all working folks. This supports your point since, my understanding of this coming law, requires the employer to put 3% away for the employee ... The implications of this are huge...

Jello Joe. I recently came across your videos and I owe you a "Thank You". I just invested in my first ETF. Now, I have started the journey with looking at my other investments and have come across some startling information. I am invested with a company that is not doing well. I would like to move my Roth-IRA to Fidelity. What would be your thoughts and or considerations regarding this move.
