Thanksgiving of 2022 you published a video and stated, “This is your last Thanksgiving renting.” That video spoke to me and I followed your advice. I closed on a home in February of 2023. I've had some unexpected home maintenance since the move but I wake up thankful every day. I needed security for me and my children.

For those that want a home, dont let negativity in the media talk you out of what you want !!!!

I like the freedom of doing what I want when I want with my own home vs renting.

Folks better wake up! I was able to retire at 49 *because I own my home.*

Like I was told recently, “when folks were effing off, I was handling business.” I worked 30 years straight and retired this year.

Renting is slavery to the landlord. I bought a small house that is way cheaper than renting.

Great video, I was hell bent on buying a home after covid, me and family was renting a home for years, when covid came my landlord suddenly didn’t want to renew our lease smh . It was a blessing in a disguise because it forced me to really fix my credit and closing on our home . Best thing I ever did

Homeownership will never be overrated. I WILL be a homeowner when the time is right!

After doing my budget and saw that I'd still have twice the amount of what i pay for my mortgage, homeowners insurance, property taxes, utilities, left ovet i knew i made the right choice, because after taking care of all of the essentials i am still able to live, so i won't be "house poor"

Homeownership is great if you don’t over pay for your home and if you can do a little home improvement on your own, got mine in 2017 before covid and it was the best decision I ever made

All Of Those People Who Knock Home Ownership Are All HOME OWNERS .

I'm ok with renting. A tree root broke the sewer line and flooded the first floor and the basement of the house I was renting. My rental insurance covered my damages. I can imagine the repair cost, along with everything else if I owned that house.

Home ownership is the best way to get out of the rat race. People that cant afford, want others stuck in the renters barrier. I bought my home in north carolina for 151k i was approved for 525k but i dont need that much house for me and wife only and now it is worth 267k but my mortgage is 550 bucks with escrow 678. My house was built in 1998 so not and old house and it is on a slab so no termites and other crawl space issue. the roof and hvac was replaced one year before i purchased, i have 3 bed 2 bath 1478sqft fenced in backyard with detached 4 car garage i turned into another living space 830sqft. My neighbor rent from the owner paying 1850 a month almost triple and Ive only owned for 5 years she been renting for 11 years.

I have watched a lot of your videos & closed on my home February of this year. I think a lot of it is mindset, as well. I know i wanted to buy a home for myself & my kids & that’s what i did!!! There are plenty of resources out there for people that are serious about being a homeowner.

You have a lot of excellent points. However, as the owner to two single family homes (one primary residence and one rental), I can say home ownership is overrated. Property tax increases every year. I currently pay 5k for one home and 11k for the other home in property tax. I pay about $1300 for one home and about $600 for the other home in insurance. I pay at least $2k-3k per year in repairs per house. Appliances only last about 7 years now and need repair or replacement. I also pay extra for grass cutting. Many unexpected things come up like water issues. I installed underground downspouts at both homes, HVAC tuneups, etc. Many things you cannot do yourself or are very difficult to do like power wash and stain a deck every 3 years or power wash the siding on your house. I also currently have dead trees that need cutting for $1500. It is too dangerous for me to do it myself. I have replaced both water heaters in the last 5 years. One water heater was $2200.

I just closed on a home last week Monday. The best feeling ever. Just started watching your videos and I’m loving the information you’re providing.

Great video! There’s too many other YouTubers advising/pushing people to rent causing people to become stuck in a bad rental situation. I believe there’s more benefits to home ownership than renting. Fantastic video!

I understand Ramit Sethi ideas about renting vs. buying a house and phantom costs. What happens when you retire? Renting will only continue to go up. 😮 Thank you for your content and believing in the American dream. ❤

I have been saying this about homeownership and going to college. Lately, the media has been saying don’t buy a home ( waste of $$$$) and don’t go to college/trade school( waste of time & $$$$) . Both are very difficult and costly BUT it approached strategically, you can move up financially in this world. 🌎. Everyone needs a place to live . It is hard to save up money for a house nowadays. ( moved home for 18 months and drove 50 miles one way to save). Think about buying with a family member, paying off the house ASAP, and help that family member buy their house. ( a family next door to me is doing this, working jobs at nursing home and Home Goods….❤❤❤.

Being a homeowner has it’s advantages and it’s disadvantages just like being a renter has it’s advantages vs disadvantages. I’m personally trying to buy a house because I’ve been a renter most of my life and most of my landlords have been slum lords, they want your rent but want to half fix things. Also I refuse to pay $1, 000 to $1, 200 for a one bedroom apartment. You have to do what’s best for you regardless what people think. In my state the houses are being brought as soon as they hit the market so that let’s me know people are buying them. If God leads you to it he’ll bring you through it. ❤
