When I taught the girls "mod" at the local detention center, they stole an entire class set of Speak (and then some) book by book because they all loved it and connected with it so much. It was by far the most stolen book from the classroom.

And Tango Makes Three sound so stinkin’ cute. Also…Monday’s Not Coming absolutely broke me! I did not see the ending coming at all but I like the way it was written. Because of the content I wouldn’t say it’s one of my favs of the year but it does get an honorable mention

Melissa is such a beautiful book. I read it last year and sobbed so much. As a trans woman, so much of this book reminded me of my childhood, and what my life could have been like if things had gone differently...

For those that don't know, if "Speak" is a little too much to read by itself based on the content, or if you've read it and want to know more about it, Laurie Halse Anderson wrote a memoir about writing and the banning of "Speak" after release in "Shout". Came out a few years ago and was an amazing insight into her life that inspired "Speak" and her thoughts on when it was banned as well. Not a banned book by itself, but a really good read to supplement the banned book.
