World's Most Dangerous Roads: Philippines

The headhunters road Kalinga in filipino is aptly named even if the region's heads haven't been rolling for a long time. It said the spirits of the mountains still have a taste for them when it comes to cutting the road.
Christopher and his men face the same struggle against the mountain every day. Their job is to remove the thousands of cubic meters of rocks blocking the road in record time.
Further down the valley lies the town of Bontoc. It is neither Airport nor railway station, so the road is vital for its 15,000 inhabitants. If the Kalinga is blocked, the entire region is paralyzed and even the bone snake charms are powerless.
Bus 532 with 20 years of service is about to leave for one of the most dangerous roads in the Philippines: the Kalinga on the island of Luzon. It relays Bontoc to the regional capital of Tabuk to the north through the Cordillera mountains. A Tough road under construction for nearly a century, but which still resembles a track. It takes almost a day if all goes well to travel.

My father was in the Philippines during WWII. He spoke of how good the people of the country are. He also spoke of the jugles how a person could get disoriented by going a few feet in.He spoke of the thick mud, much mud during t h e rainy season. He was at Manila and several other islands.
He was there 2yrs, 2monthsand two days. My dad wanted to go back during the peace years but my mother did not want to go.
When he was in the hospital for a broken hip a nurse came into the room. He immediately started talking a language I did not understand. The nurse turned to me and smiled. She said, "There is nothing wrong with your father he is talking to me. I am Philippineno and he knows the language very well." He was 82 yrs old and still recalled how to hold a fluent conversation with this gracious nurse.
Thank you, for this video it let me see what my father explained to me before he passed away
He spoke of the beauty of the countryand it's people.

I have visited the Philippines 9 times and have traveled some of these roads many times requiring 6 hours to travel 20 kilometers, but in recent years, the government has done a remarkable job in improving many of these roads.I love the Filipino people as they are they are the kindest people I have ever met anywhere in the world.I love their great appreciation of any kind act toward them no matter what you do for them.As i watched this video, I was reminded of their patience, trusting goodness, and willingness to persevere thru even the most difficult of circumstances.

I am struck by the philosophical approach of the 60 year old miner: "When I started the tunnel, I had hoped to hit gold after ONE meter..but we have now done 120 meters without success. If I don't make it, then my children and my niece will hit the gold..my tunnel belongs to them, and the future generations..." Now that's wisdom. You got my prayers, and best wishes from KENYA. Amani ya Bwana.

I was born and raised in the Phils...Filipinos are kind, pure-hearted and honest especially in far-flung areas such as the villagers on this video. Sadly, I can't say the same for those living in urbanized cities especially in Manila.

I have a friend who married a Philipino girl. She passed away from cancer. Now he's in the Philippines living with her family. They have taken him into the family like a son. He was in a motorcycle accident and is now partially paralyzed. The family is doing everything they can to help him recover so he can return to the US. Once the WuFlu problem is over, I will be going over to help him with traveling back to the states. Looking forward to seeing the

"Some passengers don't pay the right amount. But that's OK. They can pay us next time." I love that. They've garnered my utmost respect. Greetings from Jordan. May Allah bless you and protect you from all evils of the road.

I'm impressed by Filipinos, they smile all the time and it's a good positvity. While most of us in Malaysia don't even smile to people we don't know hardly even look including me, we're just minding our business.

I am from kalinga, ive travelled this road all the time, even when the roads are still unpaved like what you see in this documentary, it's really scary at first but thru time you'll get used to it, now the roads here are properly paved, it's a very enjoyable road specially when youre riding a motorcycle, you can enjoy the cold breeze of the mountains and the beautiful view, hope i can go back there again been missing the place.

I was really impressed by just how clean that little mountain village was. I see pictures and videos of poor nations and there is garbage everywhere. Pride in your surroundings is priceless.
