Back injury, what an awful problem. We can’t tell you how many patients and caregivers I meet as Occupational Therapists who find manual transfers stressful and even dangerous - just the thought of a manual transfer can make patients more likely to limit their mobility in a given day.

But that’s where the folks at Etac decided they could make a difference with their sit-to-stand Turner Pro. Every aspect of its design is meant to put both patient and caregiver at ease.

Its knee cushion support and handle grip are easily adjustable and brace the patient for a natural movement, while giving the caregiver leverage that doesn’t strain their back.

The bright orange handle makes it easy for patients to find if they have impaired vision, and its lowered position allows for eye contact between the two.

Just how important communication is throughout the transfer process cannot be understated.

The anti-slip base plate is compact enough to make transfers in even the tightest spaces like bathrooms and hallways, and it works smoothly on just about every surface, including carpets.

As for portability, the whole unit folds down to just 30 inches tall while only weighing 15lbs.
