Gooseworx ADDRESSES Fandom Toxicity in The Amazing Digital Circus

Recently there’s been an increase in fandom toxicity, which led to gooseworx making a statement over on twitter. Let me explain.

So the other day there was a situation on tiktok where a fan was sent numerous death threats because they thought that gangle was annoying.

Gooseworx saw this incident and tweeted, “This may be an unpopular opinion, but I actually kind of don't think you should threaten somebody's life over their opinions on a cartoon character.”

In a follow up reply she said, “you can disagree, heck you can even straight up think the opinion is stupid, but when people cross into the "I need to punish this person" territory, they completely lose my sympathy.”

Obviously goose is completely correct, and it should be common sense not an unpopular opinion. Getting death threats for saying that gangle is annoying is completely ridiculous and just shows how unfortunately too many people take these shows way too seriously.

Why are fandoms so toxic?? 😭 I saw a video on tiktok of someone quitting because they were getting death threats for making radiostatic art. They got death threats from radioapple shippers and staticmoth shippers. There are many ships and characters I don't like, but I would never threaten someone over it. Listen, I love Gangle, hell, she’s even my favorite TADC character! But if someone said they didn’t like her, my first reaction wouldn’t be DEATH THREATS!
Some things are NEVER ok to say to other people, in person or online, and death threats are one of them! I genuinely can’t even imagine what gave that person the urge to do that

I love Gangle but the worst I would do is just not watch the video cuz I don't agree with the opinions in it. Maybe even say to myself "no you're wrong". But genuinely threatening someone's life because you don't agree with one of their opinions is actually crazy.
