DIY-Fabric spiral gathers Christmas ball/Φτιάχνω-Υφασμάτινη μπάλα Χριστουγέννων με σπιράλ σούρες

This video presents how to make spiral gathers on a piece of fabric in order to dress a styrofoam ball.

The fabric is lightweight (curtain remnant)

Styrofoam ball diameter is 20cm

The fabric width is around 4 times the diameter of the ball with 15 spirals

Stitch length 1cm

Spiral pattern

Draw the lines (stitches) on a piece of paper
Σχεδιάζω τις γραμμές (βελονιές) σε ένα κομμάτι χαρτί

Transfer the lines on the fabric
Μεταφέρω τις γραμμές στο ύφασμα

At the beginning leave a piece of thread free
Στην αρχή αφήνω ένα κομμάτι κλωστής ελεύθερο

Make the stitches according to the diagram
Κάνω τις βελονιές σύμφωνα με το διάγραμμα

At the end of spiral pull the thread
Στο τέλος του σπιράλ τραβάω την κλωστή

Repeat the process
Επαναλαμβάνω τη διαδικασία

After 15 spirals secure the last spiral and the first one
Μετά από 15 σπιράλ στερεώνω το τελευταίο σπιράλ και το πρώτο

Pin the spirals on the Styrofoam ball at the desired position
Καρφιτσώνω τα σπιράλ στη μπάλα φελιζόλ στην επιθυμητή θέση

Pin the formed pleats at the top
Καρφιτσώνω τις σχηματισμένες πιέτες στην κορυφή

Cut the excess fabric
Κόβω το περίσσιο ύφασμα

Pin some spangles in order to cover the empty part
Καρφιτσώνω μερικές πούλιες για να καλύψω το κενό

Cut the excess fabric when necessary
Κόβω το περίσσιο ύφασμα όταν χρειάζεται

Place some pins in order to cut the excess fabric
Τοποθετώ μερικές καρφίτσες για να κόψω το περίσσιο ύφασμα
Repeat for the “bottom”
Επαναλαμβάνω για τον “πάτο”

Cut the excess fabric when necessary
Κόβω το περίσσιο ύφασμα όταν χρειάζεται
