With my collection growing i definitely needed this video. Now that military career is winding down and i don't have to move so much, i may use some of the ikea bookshelves. Right now, i just have some run of the mill shelves

As a Swede i recognize an Ikea-product immediately. :) All our homes are filled with them. Thanks to you and Gem Mint (as inspiration) i will soon buy a big Kallax to expand my comic shelves. (I don't have to many comics, just to little space)

I got with the skinny Billy’s, the weight limit per shelf hold my collection with no issues.

My Dad got me one of the Bookshelves that Walmart has. If I keep collecting Comics, I'll probably stick to the bookshelves that Ikea has. Good suggestion, Omar.

I have 2 billy's with glass doors for my comics. The Kallax at the ikea here was limited to 2 rows of shelves, else wld have gotten those for my omnis

So you haven't had any issues with shelves warping or bending in the middle over time? That's a common complaint I've see for these shelves and is one reason I've held off on them for my hardcover novels.

How high are your shelves for the kallax? Because the only ones I can find are 13.25" and most absolutes range from 14" to 16", so I can't imagine that they'd fit unless you can custom order one with taller shelves

Wish kallax was 2 in taller for my 6th gun hardcovers and other library editions

IKEA shelving is attractive and well designed, but it's still MDF or particle board. Frangible.
The Kallax (w/frame) looks sturdy enough to hold HC's, but they're 15in. deep, which is a lot for a 7.75in. omni. When homey has a serious comic book habit, every inch counts.
I built a 3 shelf unit (12in. between shelves), 48in. across, 8 in. deep, out of select pine from Lowe's. I used a 1in. square bar in front and 3in. boards on the back of each shelf for reinforcement. $120 in material. I've got about 100 trades on each shelf. I have no special skills or tools. Drill. Measuring tape. Circular saw. 2in. screws.
I built two units, joined at a right angle for support. 600+ trades. They only stand out 7in. from the wall, instead of 15.

I use kallax’s for my board games, comics, and manga- may have to switch out a couple for Billy’s to better fit the manga

I used to use Billys....until a shelf buckled and nearly damaged almost 2K worth of books (oonly one book got damaged in that event). I'm sticking with metal frame bookcases, after that episode
