Never make a direct eye contact.. it's like challenging a beast... Lucky his hand ✋ was not in his mouth..🤣

Sir the mistake the person did is he made a direct eye contact with the dog. That generated the feel of challenge and the canine instinct of guarding and chase. Moreover the person's hand was just at the muzzle which most of the canines won't like. This rottweiler requires more socialising as he got a hard temperament. Get him on leash take him out to parks or a walk.

I've had big dogs over the years, rotties included. Strangers would come up and say, "does your dog bite?" And I'd say, "sometimes". Problem solved.

I lived with a Rottweiler for 12 years.... Its their style of attack first they allow you to touch then they show aggression so don't even try to make friends with them if your not an owner.

I see the eye contact probably triggered him, but damn that was a hell of a reaction for literally just enjoying the petting. He didn't seem to mind the kid's eye contact nearly as much. Wonder what the difference was.

Strangers should Never touch the head of the dog.
And the Best way to approach the dog is from the side not from the front.

To be fair.. it was damn difficult to see it coming, there was no warning. He continued petting it with no change. And to the people who are saying " it was the eye conact" (and to this dog too), where the hell Is he supoused to look while petting it? 😆

Also they need to understand that was just a warning. I've seen my great grandparents rottweilers jump gates that had to be at least 7 ft high. My rottweiler (borne from them) would jump our navel height fence if she got too excited about a squirrel teasing her. Zero hesitation. the top of our fence was metal ends she would have zero scars or scratches. The neighborhood kids would sometimes bring her back (she got too happy sniffing around the neighborhood) and she would be the sweetest little puddle of pooch. You would never guess she was a guard dog. We did make sure to socialize her tho. If the pup really wanted to hurt him he woulda been hurt. And on his side of the fence.

My uncle who has had dogs all his life, he told me once when I was young don't make direct eye contact with a unfamiliar dog. That was the problem here I felt.

Even i could smell the fear gradually increasing. It started when the kid moved back.

This dog needs to be better socialized, you can't be lazy with big breeds

I don't think this can be called an "ATTACK", as others say direct eye contact here triggered the dog's reaction, but for me it was just a WARNING, if you see carefully he didn't even tried to bite, he barely opened his mouth and jumped a bit, for me is he just saying "hey! don't look at me like that!"

I love dogs but never trusted a Rottweiler, and this shows why. They can be unpredictable

Don't touch anyone else's Rottweiler, if u do make sure owner introduces dog to you and don't touch top of head if it's not your dog as they don't trust anyone else and if they can't see your hand they'll get angry, u don't want that, he was just warning u, if he wanted he'd bite And not let go, u would be seriously hurt.

The dog felt some negative energy in him. I was having a rot he is very socialized and all my friends used to play with him but he was not accepting one guy who was my friend, he did the same thing like this dog did and i was surprised to see his aggressiveness coz he was very friendly dog and later on the same person cheated me. I thank my dog for giving a clue that he is a threatful person to our family. I think dogs can sense threat to their family.
