Welcome to a game called From the Darkness, a genuinely terrifying game. I have no been this scared in a long time.. This game comes from the develop of "Wrong Floor" - I played this game a few months back and enjoyed it a lot so I knew once the developer released this title, it'd be a similar experience. Enjoy!

Hey Ryan, the carpet on the wall is due to how thin the walls would be and because winters would be incredibly harsh sometimes, the carpets were hung up as an extra layer of insulation and to a certain degree soundproofing. You can still find many people doing that in Russia and a good amount of Eastern European countries
