A dealer wanted to charge me $350 for a “throttle body cleaning” I told them to kick rocks.

if your car has a MAF sensor clean that with MAF sensor cleaner DO NOT use wd40 or brake cleaner, wd40 will leave a residue and brake cleaner is too aggressive the thin metal wire is very delicate and must be cleaned with the specific MAF sensor cleaner

Just cleaned the one in my Explorer, and after I cleaned it, I had to reset shift points. Worked great thanks to Brian

Keep throttle body clean its imperative.. it helps keep O2 sensors, fuel trim and other components in proper range.

This is especially important when replacing the battery. It resets the values to the original setting, and a dirty throttle body will make the engine go off idle.

I have this problem, I was thinking it was IAC valve, but I'm about to try this. I haven't done it in awhile. Thank you

Both mine and my wife’s jeeps have started with an idle of 2000 rpm straight from the factory. Brand New.
I change the oil and filter because of it.
I’ll start checking and cleaning the throttle at the intake.
Thank you Scotty

Sure hope you covered the “Idle trim relearn” procedure in the other video! It also helps to know that a clean / new air filter should be used when doing the procedure. I’ve learned through experience. Suppose that the “relearn” would happen by itself eventually, but in the meanwhile, you could get several stalls and erratic idling issues, making you think you damaged something. You could have, or maybe you just didn’t do the procedure right, or at all.

New age cars don't have mechanical throttle linkage anymore, they're electronically actuated and the gas pedal is a just a potentiometer

This Toyota engine is known for the intake manifold gasket to wear out. Super common. Its an easy fix. I've had the same car (Matrix/Corolla 1ZZ-FE engine) That hits 2000-2400 RPM on start-up when its 8C or colder.. The gasket solves this.
