This does not work, there must be more to it. My opener is an older model and works fine with original remote controls but the new remote does not sync with the older opener.

totally incorrect
try this for those who are struggling.

PRESS RED LEARN
PRESS + (YELLOW) until you get 'ru' on the green screen (run)
Then PRESS and HOLD desired remote key button until white light finishes flashing
press the remote key again once the light finishes flashing
Good to go!
