September 23rd is World Sign Language Day, providing an opportunity to connect with the deaf community in Kenya. Since 2010, the East African country has recognised sign language as an official language alongside English and Swahili. Earlier this year, a "Kenyan Sign Language" law was passed, ensuring the right to interpreters in all government agencies, including schools. FRANCE 24's team on the ground reports.
