The Importance of Emotion and Storytelling in your work

Video, pictures, animation and pretty much anything you create is much more powerful if people who see it connect to it emotionally in some way. Here is a small animation I did over a decade ago that won an award. The challenge was to create a 60 second animation centered around the theme of a toy airplane. Let it inspire you to inspire others. Enjoy!

I bet that took so much more time than anyone realizes

In just 60 seconds you made an 80-year-old man cry. I was that little boy who lost his father in WWII.

Markus! You really should be running on-line courses on what you teach! You should get paid big time for your knowledge, and you would certainly get the wider recognition you really well deserve! Thank you for sharing your expertise with all of us on this channel that really appreciate you very much! You must also stop giving stuff away. We appreciate you for what you share not the kit you give to people!

My father was in the Navy but a tear still came to my eyes. Last time I teared up like this was during "Saving Private Ryan".

Your channel is a breath of fresh air, and quite right. It's not about gear, it's about creativity, inspiration and what you do with your gear. There are many, many channels that are about the latest gear, and that brings sponsors, ads and Clicks, but there are far too few channels that tell what is really important.

My grandfather was in WW2. I had a toy airplane someone was selling at my grandma's church. This toy airplane was all metal and the wings folded up. So it was a aircraft carrier airplane I think. But it was orange the perpella was broke off. But I loved that toy. Even at the toy stores you could not find toy airplanes like the one I had as a kid.

That definitely created some emotion in me. An art form that I have not been able to master.

Evoking emotion with pictures and sound and of course story.

A picture is worth a 1000 words, that 60sec movie was worth a lifetime of emotions. Great work.

Anyone interested in getting started with 3D models and animation should take a look at Blender. It's open source and free. There is tons of easy to follow guides on how to create with Blender, you'll find many creators on Youtube showing you how to use Blender. You don't need a super expensive PC to use it.

Es ist schön zu sehen wie gut deine Ratschläge sind. Keine Technik der Welt ersetzt dir dein Herzblut!

This is a good video. "Memories" is great. The message, "elicit emotions", is excellent!

As always, you get right down to the REAL crux of the technique or concept.

Yep! You are 100% right, the technical part is only supplementary to the creation goal. That's why when I create anything from 2d/3D/ applications I create with a beginning, middle and ending.
