WTVJ At 70: A Fabulous Remote

Показать описание
June 8, 1953 was a sunny Monday -- a perfect day for WTVJ to do a live remote broadcast of "Holiday for Housewives" from Miami Beach's glamorous Roney Plaza Hotel.
This story offers a glimpse behind the scenes of an early TV crew at work on a live, on-location broadcast. Among the highlights: WTVJ-4's remote truck, touted as "Wometco's Theatre of the Air," very large video cameras capturing the action, and a dish relaying the signal to WTVJ's studio in downtown Miami.
This clip also offers a glimpse of "Holiday for Housewives," apparently one of many live shows offered by WTVJ in its early days. There's a swimming contest in the Roney's pool and what looks like a Jeep covered with flowers as in the Tournament of Roses. And there are a couple of revealing shots of the Roney's gardens.
