Television: Monday 02/12/1963
The Beatles' celebrated appearance on The Morecambe And Wise Show was filmed at ATV's Elstree Studio Centre in Borehamwood on this day, although it wasn't broadcast to the nation until April 1964.
They were then joined by Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise for some banter and a light-hearted version of golden oldie Moonlight Bay.
The episode of The Morecambe And Wise Show was shown on the ITV network on Saturday 18 April 1964 at 8.25pm. It was repeated on 24 July the following year on The Best Of Morecambe And Wise.

George and Paul’s harmonies are underrated!!

Paul's bass from 0:30 - 0:55 is incredible. To sing as flawlessly he does whilst playing those roaming bass lines without once looking down to your guitar is impressive.

Effortless bastard

Ringo's drumming during George's guitar solo was impeccable.

Awesome job cameraman. show Ringo during George’s solo, great. If only Ringo would’ve had a solo spot maybe we would’ve had a chance to see George doing his thing.

Apart from being a great song, this performance shows the all round talent of the Beatles, with Paul's effortless bass work when singing, George's harmonies (indeed lead melody at one point) and lead guitar and John's brilliant rhythm guitar work

This is literally my favourite song, and I’m only 16. Disappointed not many people in my age group will get to listen to this masterpiece

Wow .. I am so amazed that this was the early 60's, , It still sounds fresh today !!! (Interesting fact) > > The Beatles stood still on purpose to make sure that the audience would not mistake any form of competition with Elvis. 1963 What an explosive year for the Birth of Rock & Roll and IT's amazing that The Beatles were right there with their fantastic contributions to the Era !! This song still sounds great at my live gigs. (pre Covid) .. and it works well on the Cruise Ship gigs as well. My Students love to learn and play this song. If you need it transposed into a different key to make it easier to sing, i can help you with that as well. Gotta Love the Classics. ;-) Thanks for posting this video. ;-)

Crazy to think this was recorded a couple of months before my dad was born. Thank you media for preserving historical events!

@1:06 - have to love how the director cut to Ringo during George's solo. Nice to see Paul's fingers and not just his face. These guys could play.

Close your eyes and I'll kiss you
Tomorrow I'll miss you
Remember I'll always be true
And then while I'm away
I'll write home every day
And I'll send all my lovin' to you

I'll pretend that I'm kissing
The lips I am missing
And hope that my dreams will come true
And then while I'm away
I'll write home every day
And I'll send all my lovin' to you

All my lovin', I will send to you
All my lovin', darlin', I'll be true

Close your eyes and I'll kiss you
Tomorrow I'll miss you
Remember I'll always be true
And then while I'm away
I'll write home every day
And I'll send all my loving to you

All my lovin', I will send to you
All my lovin', darlin', I'll be true
All my lovin', all my lovin'
Ooh ooh, all my lovin', I will send to you

John and George have an incomprehensible dual guitar thru-out this song. Pre-Stones, doin that weaving.
