It's nice to know Sesame Street had such a long history of Emmy appearance gags.

I love Mr hooper so much, R IP, he was the pimp of that store and take things easy to sell products and teach kids to know about salesmanships and investments. Thanks Mr Lee

My most favorite part of this clip is getting to see the late beautiful precious masterpiece of a gentleman who gave us David. God bless you and his family always!!! Holly in east TN (a girl who will forever love Northern Calloway)

They quite literally don't make em like this anymore. This joy is pure Henson; a symphony performance by diverse faces and ages that marries earnestness, education, satire and joy. Thank you for posting.

This year's show is just now getting started. This performance was 40 years ago and to me nothing will ever top it. God bless you always!!! Holly in east TN (a girl who will forever love the late beautiful precious masterpiece of a gentleman who gave us David from Sesame Street)

R.I.P. Will Lee (1908-1982), Northern Calloway (1948-1990), Jim Henson (1936-1990), Richard Hunt (1951-1992), Alaina Reed-Hall (1946–2009), Jerry Nelson (1934-2012), Carroll Spinney (1933-2019), Emilio Delgado (1940-2022) and Bob McGrath (1932-2022). 9 great people who made mine and many other people's childhood's memorable and magical. I bet their friends and family are proud of them for what they achieved as performers. When Alaina Reed Hall died in 2009 I was 21, when Jerry Nelson died in 2012 I was 24, when Carroll Spinney died in 2019 I was 31, when Emilio Delgado died on the 10th of March of this year I was 33 and when Bob McGrath died today I'm 34. I was upset and depressed about their deaths for a few months after their deaths. Sometimes whenever I watch old Sesame Street clips I get overwhelmed with emotion when I see clips with them. :(

Classic GREAT STUFF!!! Glad to see the human cast getting credit for the show here as the muppets seem to always take the stage especially today with Elmo. Great to see the classic cast with Mr. Hooper and David and Olivia here who are no longer with us. Thankyou for posting this Gem!!!

I think I saw Ami Foster and Jenny Lewis in that crowd of kids singing with the cast of Sesame Street! And that was before they would star in Troop Beverly Hills together just a couple of years later!

this is an amazing performance. this is what sesame street should have done at the kennedy center but these kinds of performances are now only found on broadway sadly. the audience back then were familiar with these kinds of performances, thats why their excitement wasnt so high, lol but today this would get a standing ovation for sure. I see some of my favorite characters have passed on. RIP to them

I've got some questions to ask you: Who performed Barkley? Who performed Farley? Who performed Biff? Who performed Sully? Who performed Clementine? And who performed Sherlock Hemlock?

I remember being captivated by this..because the characters were outside of the regular show!

I think the little girl with the blonde hair, blue overalls blue and white shirt is Ami Foster, who a couple years later would be one of Punky Brewster's friends.

Children's Television Workshop now as Sesame Workshop in 2000 gave Sesame street in award in 1982

It would've been awesome, if they did a similar thing in recent years (2014, I think), but of course, it'll never happen.

Sounds like from Sesame Street: 40 Years of Sunny Days (Disc 1) 4:13

And this was around the time Jim Henson was starting to promote The Dark Crystal!

If this was from 1982 it's the year Will Lee (Mr. Hooper) died.

Wonder why Ernie, Bert, Cookie Monster, and Grover didn't appear in this. Probably because Franke Oz was too busy with other things. Besides Jim Henson only appeared as Kermit slightly in the beginning of this. Right?
