“There are private roads” libertarians severely underestimate how expensive and unprofitable it is to build and maintain roads, which is why car companies don’t do it

Libertarians: "What if we got rid of the government... and replaced it with a worse government?"

Libertarians: ''Taxation is theft!''

Also libertarians: ''What do you mean? The business owner has every right to take all profit generated by his workers and employees for himself even though he did nothing to earn it. He alone bears the risk after all.''

It’s always hilarious to me that libertarians are so worried about violence from the state through taxation but everything they propose would result in feudal warlords fighting each other with actual violence.

I remember asking a libertarian "non-interventionist": so, what if a developing country, by popular support, doesnt want to open up to economic trade and arrangments that they deem exploitative, unfair or harmful to their interests? His serious reply "then we open them up to development and free economics by force".

Every fucking time, free-market fundamentalists always fall back on the threat of state intervention, coercion and top-down power. They just want looser restrictions on property and labor rights so they can dominate the society. Once they become the oligarchy, their fear of losing that power and wealth transforms them into what they always claimed to hate about states.

love the dichotomy between "this is the most comfortable era in human history" and "therefore we must defund all the national programs that lead to those comforts being available to everyone"

Vaush, I sincerely hope you read this comment

This is literally the type of video I crave from your channel. The type of video where you just pick an economic or political system, explain what it is, and explain why you do or don't like it.

Like, I have learned from this video. This was educational. I would love it if you put out more content specifically for this purpose.

Thank you for reading.

Libertarians insist that taxes are theft but then look at corporate profit and literally go “you can just work somewhere else or negotiate your wages better!”

_"We can just rely on the generosity of greedy people"_
_"If we just take away all the rules, the people ignoring them now will suddenly start following them"_
_"WalMart will spend countless billions building and maintaining roads to town with 300 people so they can go shopping, even though they demand free real estate and no taxes now."_
These and more top Libertarian Arguments can be yours, al for the simple cost of a head injury.

You can't convince me that "there's privatized versions of, X, Y, or Z" isn't just a convoluted way to say "poor people don't deserve this service"

"You owe society". yes, you do. You've already benefited from society for the first 12 years of your life, before you came up with your libertarian bullshit.

Every libertarian argument about taxes is always : "So a dude comes to you and steal your money". And they just end it there. I don't see any appropriate response to that other than calling them bedtime abolishers and laughing them out the room.

I used to be a Libertarian and opposed state based social services, but then I realized you kind of have to be alive to be free.

The idea of tax as theft mainly comes from Proudhon who, in the same work, came to the conclusion that property itself is theft and that taxation is a necessary evil in the face of the greater evil of property. Funny how libertarians always forget that part
