NASA Has a $3.5bn Plan to Save The Planet From The Yellowstone Supervolcano
“NASA has been working on a plan to counter this potentially far off but ultimately inevitable circumstance, which could be graver than even the nightmare scenario of a planet-devastating asteroid strike.”

The Future of Electric Vehicles May Lie Below Ancient Supervolcanoes
“In a paper published in Nature Communications, the researchers explained how these massive volcanoes — 10,000 times more powerful than most active volcanoes today — created the perfect thermodynamic conditions to produce thick deposits of lithium-rich clays.”

Yellowstone Supervolcano Much Bigger Than Thought

Just tell the US government there is oil down there, the hole will be drilled in a matter of time!

When you're drilling 9.9km deep and the earth starts trembling.... Oops..

Why don't we take Yellowstone National Park and push it somewhere else?

Just drop a few ice cubes in it.

That usually works when I need to cool down my ramen noodles.

Why don't we just take Yellowstone Supervolcano, and PUSH IT somewhere else?!

There is another supervolcano in my toilet.

Budget is nothing, our military budget is now at $700 billion. Take some from that, it won't affect defense at all.

The $3.46 billion price tag is just a massive investment. They will make the money back by the energy it produces.

Hold my beer, i'm going to drill inside a missive volcano that can erupt anytime.

The high acidity of volcanic gases and liquids around magma tend to degrade any known piping material. Otherwise we would have had cheap geothermal electrical power long ago like in Iceland. Every project that I know of was eventually shut down because of this single problem. Our materials simply are not up to the corrosive properties of volcanic areas. But maybe NASA brilliance will save the day. Hoping. Most of my domains are registered through Domaindotcom.

Well, I guess when life gives you lemons, you use it's geothermal heat as a sustainable source of energy and a way to syphon off the excess heat which would've caused a climate changing volcanic eruption. Just like my mom used to say.

Just get a giant fan to blow away the ash.

Surely a misplaced drill wouldn’t be as bad as what would happen if we left it? The pressure inside would surely build higher to create a bigger eruption, i.e. if it erupts now the impact would be less than 1000 years from now due to the pressure changes. Surely this should be given a go

I love how people are making jokes about this when we’re all gonna die
