The free update was pushed today to Zelda Breath of the Wild and Mario Odyssey and after spending time with the two games I wanted to share my thoughts on the VR experience being delivered here to help you decide if this is something you should invest in.

I'm still hoping for Mario Kart VR.

I bought it because of Zelda VR. Never tried an oculus or vive. Knew it was lower tech going in. I played Zelda for 45 min and loved it. The immersion is awesome. If you love Zelda you'll love this. If you're a techie who expects this to look like a vive, you deserve to be disappointed.

Played Zelda last night, and yes started to get a bit motion sick. HOWEVER, I was near dueling peaks at the time, and my head tracking was working fine I guess as I started looking up at dueling peaks which really gave a great impression of how big they are in the world. Went ahead and climbed them in VR, and the sense of scale was really cool! Can't see playing all the time in VR, but I disagree about the site seeing, I will be going to certain places and checking them out in VR just to experience the 3d of the world. Really want to climb hyrule castle in VR mode, should be short enough. If they release a higher resolution screen version of the Switch I would buy a strap and play BotW in VR for sure.

I actually really really enjoy BotW VR, I play it by laying on my bed on my back and just let the headset rest on my face with a pair of headphones on. It's not really a beautiful experience but it really does immerse me into the world and it feels great

I bought the base VR unit for $40 and only did it for Zelda. I didn't expect it to be this huge revelation for FORTY DOLLARS but it's not bad at all. I felt more in the world and didn't feel sick at all. The resolution is low and frame rate is cut in half but it's ok. The update is free and the VR unit is $40. What the hell are you expecting?

They should have saved the vr for the next Zelda links Awakening. It would have been less stress on the system and could have had some additional emersive features. Or hell the Metroid prime trilogy

I was fine with Zelda... Just don't use it with head tracking... That's where it gets wonky...

My guess is they're testing the idea of VR on the switch for an upcoming vr title

Fyi, zelda vr works with the pro controller. I made a headstrap so my hands are free, and play with pro controller. The joycons dont need to be attached to the switch

I found the best way to play botw that sound fake but it actually works! So I lay down in bed or something with the headset on my face and the pro controller in my hands and at first it might seem weird the way that you are looking at it but after a few minuets you feel like you are in some weird dream that you can control with the controller and it is surprisingly immersive intended or not. I played through the beginning trials of trials of the sword like this and it worked great! Only problem is taking it off makes you feel pretty high.

I've been playing zelda with a head strap and my pro controller. I personally turned off the motion and it's a lot better.

Zelda VR is absolutely amazing! I love it soo much - only issues are the frames but the gameplay and 3D effect is amazing!

Funny thing, during the Zelda gameplay, putting the screen up to my face, going cross eyed for the 3D effect, and slowly moving my phone away for focus actually looked really good.

For short sessions I really like Zelda in VR, a cool thing that gives the world some more life. Works very well to have the VR in your hands so you can easley can remove it if you feel motion sickness. I like it! :)

I am glad that you included the two circle video because I was able to cross my eyes and sorta see what it would look like.
