Where's that accent from - is it Dublin? Does the 'Common Travel Area' extend to serving in the armed forces? Wikipedia has an article "Irish in the British Armed Forces" (comments with links usually disappear for me, soz). "230 Irish citizens signed up to the British armed forces from 2013 to 2015" so it is the case.
Things I didn't know! That has got to be only a good thing.

The British army is 75, 000. In 1942 85, 000 British soldiers surrendered Singapore to a Japanese force of 35, 000. Russia, North Korea and China all have over 1 million soldiers each, the idea you can win based on quality alone is over, but then again who would want to die for labour and a capital city that is 40% foreign born.

*Abolish the oath of allegiance in the military, to the king and his heirs, and their successors ("the defenders of the faith"), to match the overwhelmingly Secular recruitment pool. Decriminalise Regulate and Legalise Cannabis and Shrooms then you will have all the money you could ever dream of, for the military, and a lot more*
