I think the craziest part was, that Charles felt really safe in today's cars. Really puts it in perspective how people really drove the "coffins on wheels". Respect.

What Charles says about Gilles is exactly what is true for him. You can relate to Charles, he is friendly to everyone and with the helmet on, he becomes an animal. Seeing Charles sitting on this car just feels so right.

Back when racing cars were just extremely fast deathtraps. Respect for anyone that was driving as fast as they could in these things.

Gilles Villeneuve would have been world champion for ferrari if not for that fatal accident 😔🕊

Such a different era, drivers really were supermen, because they were willing and able to do things the average person would never do today. I visited Maranello in the early 2000s and despite Michael's multiple championships, it was Gilles' car that stood front and centre when entering the Ferrari museum. Such a testament to the legacy of Gilles Villeneuve.

The only thing I dislike about this video is that it ended. Please release a longer cut with more on track footage

„It was probably more the bravery who was coming out…“
Wow! Well said Charles!

Merci beaucoup Charles for doing this, from everyone in Canada. This is why I'm pulling for you to win the F1 World Championship.

Charles is such a class act! Too bad Jacques couldn't be there as well.

“Now, with our cars, it’s all about the smallest details.” An amazing insight from such a young, yet very experienced, racing driver (Yes, go-karting, F3 and F2 also counts!). It tells you how much the F1 field has gotten close to each other. For the time difference between pole position and last place on the grid, back in the 1970s, it was not unusual to have 8 seconds or above. Today, above 2 seconds would be considered a really poor performance. What was the saying? Winners have parties, losers have meetings? Something along those lines.

And the sound of that V12. Oh…. Wow!!!

Charles is an ideal driver for Ferrari. I think he will be one of the most remembered and iconic drivers in F1 history book, he has everything in pocket for it. It's just my prediction.

Gilles Villeneuve is easily one of the top 5 greatest Formula One drivers of all time. It isn't reflected in his F1 stats; however, anyone who actually saw the man drive knows that he exuded a brilliance behind the wheel, that allowed him to push his cars beyond the limits of his contemporaries. He honed his racing skills by racing snowmobiles on the ice in Quebec. That's how he was able to get so much out his cars.

The battle between Rene Arnoux and Gilles Villeneuve at Dijon 1979 remains the greatest example of two drivers racing on the absolute limit. Despite being a battle for a distant 2nd place finish, the two fought wheel to wheel, often making contact with each other; and swapping positions repeatedly. Lap after lap, they demonstrated racing perfection; and to be fair, Gilles' Ferrari was outclassed by Rene's Renault. It was simply Gilles' natural abilities that made the difference.

I've followed Charles closely from the beginning of his F1 career. That first race in Melbourne 2018, I said to myself, this guy is going to be something special and I was probably the happiest F1 fan when he got promoted to Ferrari the following year. He's definitely not Gilles, but to me he gives the same feeling that Gilles did. That feeling of a HUMAN character, (unlike most other F1 drivers) who is super driven and committed, while remaining one of the most friendly drivers. That's why Charles doesn't look out of place in the legend's car. Gilles had the whole of Ferrari and all the tifosi behind him in his time. Now Charles is the same. I really hope he can get his first of many titles this season

These days it's aerodynamics that makes the difference but back then, it was the driver's bravery as Charles rightfully said which is why I miss the cars and drivers of the 2000's and before.

Great to see Rene Arnoux again after so many years and Charles sliding about in Villeneuve's Ferrari. Wonderful!
