Innate Spellcasting. The Licid can cast dominate person at will, targeting creatures it is currently bonded with. The save DC is 12.
Meld with Host. As a bonus action, the Licid can attempt to bond with a willing or incapacitated humanoid it can touch. The Licid sinks its legs into the host's body, melding with it. While bonded, the Licid gains the following benefits:
It can use the host's physical abilities, replacing its own Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution scores with those of the host.
The Licid and its host share a telepathic bond, allowing them to communicate silently.
The Licid can cast spells and use any class features possessed by the host.
The host retains control of its mind but may find its emotions influenced by the Licid.
Unbond. As a bonus action, the Licid can disengage from its host. The separation is painless, causing no harm to either creature.
Egg Layer. The Licid reproduces asexually, laying eggs that hatch into juvenile Licids. The Licid can produce one egg every 30 days.
Leap. The Licid can perform a powerful leap, covering up to 200 feet horizontally or 50 feet vertically. This can be done as part of its movement.
Pheromone Detection. The Licid can detect the presence of other Licids within 100 feet through the detection of pheromones. This ability allows them to sense the proximity and general direction of other Licids.

So, illithids without ceremorphosis? These stay intelligent as the larva grow, unlike the illithid, but otherwise quite similar? And they can detach without killing the host?

this creature reminds me of the Goa'uld worm parasites from the SG1 tv show

Very interesting…almost reminds me of face huggers and goauld mixed together

Absolutely horrifying. Assimilation creatures are the scariest. Theres always a point where the main character is the only non-monster left, and that is the most terrifying.

I never realized that a cycle of about 5(ish) cards of an obscure creature type had so much lore! I wouldn’t mind if you covered more of MTG’s lore in the future

These sort of remind me of a bit of Star Frontiers backstory of a time that the Sathar tried to take control of the UP by sneaking in mind controlling parasites. Apparently it made sheer or transparent clothing fashionable for a while.

Sounds like a more terrifying version of brain slugs from Futurama. 😅

Loving the excursions into other settings to collect their nasty monsters... Licids are terrible! Thanks so much for sharing and reminding me of these gnarly beasts.

To quote Ross Scott: "NO. There's no excuse for being what *you* are."

This is some freaky stuff! Kind of reminds me of mind-flayers a little. Would love it if you could expand on the civilizations and various monsters of Kara-tur like this. As always, excellent job!

Please, do more Mtg lore!
Your video on Eldrazi, or both iterations of Phyrexia would be fascinating!

When looking at their mtg gameplay, licids are categorized as a tiny creatures with ability to "attach" to your creature, to give them benefit, like a living enchantment. Not always beneficial, for example, there is a controlling licid, that gives you control over creature it attaches to.

Interplanar travel in the MTG multiverse is further complicated by the Blind Eternities. Sort of like Magic's equivalent of the phlogiston flows and the Far Realms rolled into one.

Would love to see a video on the eldrazi titans.

I know absolutely nothing about magic the gathering. This and other videos like it will be very interesting to me. Thank you.
