How big is the Universe?

Every year, Earth passes through several space rocks, some of which end up in orbit. Several of these are Near-Earth Objects and some are Potentially Hazardous Objects. As per NASA, any asteroid bigger than 400 feet can potentially trigger a global catastrophe if it hits Earth. As we approach the end of 2022, five huge asteroids are headed towards Earth and are set to pass us in December 2022, as per NASA’s Centre for Near-Earth Object Studies at its California-based Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

The first massive asteroid 2009 HV58 to appear next month, is about 1000-2300 feet in diameter, which is as huge as the world’s tallest manmade structure Burj Khalifa. The asteroid 2009 HV58 was discovered on April 25, 2009. This near-Earth object belongs to the Apollo group. The asteroid 2009 HV58 will fly past Earth on December 02 at a distance of 4.72 million kilometers at a speed of 29 thousand kilometers per second.

Another hazardous asteroid to make a close approach is named as 2017 QL33 and is scheduled to fly past our planet on December 03, according to NASA's CNEOS. It's size is estimated in the range of 475 to 1062 feet. Asteroid 2017 QL33 will pass past Earth at a distance of 6.14 million kilometers at a speed of 7 kilometers per second. It was detected on August 17, 2012. This near-Earth object also belongs to the Apollo group. It makes one orbit around the Sun in 910 days.

On December 20, a massive asteroid 2014 HK129  will come close to earth. The size of this asteroid is approximately 500 to 1184 Feet and it is very huge. The closest distance is approximately 2.57 million kilometers. The distance of the asteroid 2014 HK129 from Earth is currently 20.92 million kilometers, equivalent to 0.14 astronomical units. It will fly past Earth at a distance of 2.57 million kilometers with a whooping speed of 12 kilometers per second.

The fourth huge asteroid to pass this December is 2022 UD9. It's size is estimated in the range of 390 to 900 feet in diameter. The asteroid 2022 UD9 is a potential hazard near-Earth object. It will safely fly past Earth on December 22 at 17:04 at a distance of 1.78 million kilometers at a speed of 10 kilometers per second.

On December 27, asteroid 2010 XC15 will pass by the Earth at a very close distance of 772 thousand kilometers from Earth. Its size varies from 446 to 1000 feet.  It is traveling at a distance of 772 thousand kilometers from Earth and at a speed of 10 kilometers per second.

NASA has already assured us that there is no danger of any large space rock striking Earth. In fact, for the next hundred years at least, there is no large space rock on a collision course with Earth.

Gigantic Planet Killer asteroid discovered and it’s heading towards Earth

Typical how everyone posting comments makes jokes about this. The problem is in this world is that humans are so much in denial. We are never prepared, just shocked when things actually start happening. When it's too late.

I just saw a Asteroid fly past the sky here in Fiji (December 11th 6:30pm). I've never seen anything like it, it was pretty white round shape with a white line following it from behind, it also had bright blue flames infront of it. The sound it gave reminded me of a blowtorch

Since 2012, I have seen such videos every month.

Doing a little homework wouldn't kill people commenting. NASA has been working on ways to deflect asteroids like these and they have already had a small success. So before you all decide to just go and panic do a little homework.

Shout out to the camera crew that caught all the comets and asteroids that's impressive

So the only one we actually have to worry about will be the one that will only be 772, 000 kilometers from earth because it could be affected by Earth's gravitational forces, that's a relief

Tbh there's a star I've been watching for awhile that keeps changing locations in the sky and I'm in fear it's a comet or aestroid and It has me up at night tbh. This is one of my biggest fears. It would be beautiful to watch it's tail glowing on the way down but this is terrifying

O.k. Suppose NASA find an Asteroid 2km in diameter at a speed of 50 km/sec. on a collision course to planet earth. What are we suppose to do and what are the precautions we have to take?

What could go wrong this month. I hope I will be asleep when this happens

Make sure to watch out. It's good to know when we are doomed

I doubt they would tell us if an asteroid were to hit Earth

We are overdue for a Space Debris hit on Earth.

If we just weaponize the planet.... Hear me out.... Make a really large either cannon, bored out of the earth, and use the rotation/orbit/tilt to shoot a very large SOLID projectile at asteroids, or a satellite defense system that can actually do something similar or use lasers to try and break it up/shift it over time.

We are too technologically advanced to not be building a defense system for our PLANET
