Hi, thanks for your channel - it’s a great new find for me.

Re Italian prog, I would urge anyone to try to see The Watch when they tour the UK. They play cover versions of the earlier Genesis albums. I’ve seen numerous brilliant Genesis cover bands like Musical Box, ReGenesis & the Carper Crawlers, but The Watch are unquestionably the best unit musically. Yes, there’s little or nothing of the stage costumes; slightly more of the track interlude stories; buy musically note perfect! I’ve seen them play full Genesis albums all the way through from Trespass to The Lamb Lies Down. They’ve been touring every year now for quite some time and their live material in a given year typically majors on a Genesis album celebrating a major anniversary that year. A must see band for Genesis lovers…

Cool video. I'm a huge Italian prog fan. I own 400 Italian prog rock albums...divided evenly between classic 70s and modern 2010-2025.
The modern Italian scene is almost as good as the classic. The contemporary scene honors the classics.
Here is a brief list of some of my favorite Modern Italian Prog Rock Bands
Logos (last two albums are masterpieces)
Egonon
Unreal City
Barock Project
Syndone
LA COSCIENZA DI ZENO
L' ALBERO DEL VELENO ( Goblin like- horror sound style)
IL TEMPIO DELLE CLESSIDRE
INGRANAGGI DELLA VALLE
LA MASCHERA DI CERA
NODO GORDIANO (Italian King Crimson)

Le Orme are my favourite and for keyboard driven albums, the more modern Standarte are excellent and from the 70s I really like The Trip especially the early 70s output

I’ll throw in from more recent times Fjieri whose excellent album “Endless” is well worth checking out and from last year Nicola Lori “Urban Vision” which has a couple of tracks with Grice on lead vocals ~ wonderful music 💫

Another great italian band from the 70´s: Il Rovescio Della Medaglia; "Contaminazione" is a fantastic album.

Being in the states, my first exposure to PFM was the English language versions on ELP’s Manticore label. I was head over heels with Photos of Ghosts. Then came The World Became The World which seemed very different, oddly had earlier material on it. Banco didn’t get a domestic release until later, but remained mostly intact. Import LP’s were impossible to get from Italy, at least here on the west coast. Out of the 7, PFM still remains my favorite, although their move into jazz fusion did little for me. I love the Italian language versions, I just consider it another instrument.

Not really familiar with these bands and italian prog, except Goblin.
I discovered last year a band from Italy, called L'Ira Del Baccano. Their style is Instrumental Psychedelic/Space Rock, which i really like.

great picks but you need a lesson in italian to pronouce their names properly :) easy for me to say as an italian. on a serious note, i will put Italy as the no.2 country in the world (behind Britain) for the most innovative prog of the early seventies. there were hundreds of bands around, i collect italian prog and keep finding stuff i never knew existed. other great bands were Perigeo, New Trolls, Arti + Mestieri and Delirium. but one the most extravagant prog albums must be Zarathustra by Museo Rosenbach. that one is a prog treasure!
