this worked on my 2016 Chevy Silverado w 137k miles. Thanks!! Had repair shop chasing the P0446 code and gas tank fill. Repair shop replaced the canister vent valve solenoid valve & hoses in and out, but still couldn't fill gas tank without gas pump clicking off every 2 seconds. I got Youtube smart thanks to High Octane & banged on the charcoal canister & hit it with compressed air repeatedly. Tank fills with no problem & no P0446 code anymore. Thanks!!

I really hope this helps my 2003 Silverado 2500. People at the gas station keep looking at me like I'm a dumbass that doesn't know how to pump gas.

Thanks for posting this. You saved me some money. 2005 Chevy Express 185, 000 miles and I recently was on a dirt road, next time to fuel, pump shuts off and takes 5 minutes for 30 gallons. Thanks again High Octane.

The guy who maintains the pumps at Coop was there one day when I was filling up.  He was worried about what this is doing to the pumps!   He said I have heard of this happening but never seen it.   Since then people have been coming out of the woodwork with the same issues.  I just feel bad that when my Dad bought the 05 Chevy Silverado within a year it started clogging up.  He was 80 years old and had to stand in the freezing weather and the extreme heat for way to long to put gas in his truck.   What a shame we have to deal with this at this day and age.   Thanks for the video, Zims!!  I now know how to fix it myself!  You Rock!!!

THIS WORKS!!! i have a 2002 chevy s-10 zr2 and i took off the vent canister, beat it with the side of a hammer while blowing air through it. Works great now. Just wish i had tried this before i paid for a purge solenoid. Thanks for the video.

I have the same fuel filling problems, also getting the Check Engine code P0446. This is extremely frustrating!
I replaced the vapor canister vent valve/solenoid after watching a video that said that should have fixed the problem.
It didn't fix the problem.
My next move is to do exactly what you did in this video, since my truck has driven down many dirt roads in its lifetime.

Thank you for posting this video, I think it's going to save me a good amount of sanity.

After watching this video, I decided to replace the charcoal canister on my 2011 Sierra with a new one. This solved the problem of the slow fuel filling instantly. I ordered it from rockauto, took me about 30 minutes to swap out, completely worth it.

good video. The vent valve where that dirty side hose goes, is another thing to clean out. I have cleaned dozens of them, some with half a cup of fine dirt in them. I just worked on one where they relocated the vent valve to up under the hood where there should be way less dust, using a length of heater hose. If there is an electrical wire it will have to be lengthened too. I have an 07 monte carlo coming in with the same problem. Usually get an OBD code like P0440 to P0449 and check engine light.
