A union representing some 55,000 Ontario education workers says its members will be back to work Tuesday after Premier Doug Ford promised to repeal the province's anti-strike law. Heather Donovan, a parent of a 12-year-old who was diagnosed with dyslexia, and Jessica Lyons, a protest organizer, discuss the next steps.

What bargaining table? Ontario never participated in bargaining.

That was quick....I suspect the Ford Government saw the snowball rolling downhill towards a general strike paralyzing the Province.

A dangerous One only needs to check the Ontario Sunshine List to see most of the top government officials have received a 35-45% pay increase since 2015. So who is the group setting the precedent again for pay increases?!?

Why is there a continual claim of an 11% increase.?? THE UNION SLASHED IT'S DEMAND TO 6% This is an editorial decision by the producers of this program..

Can anyone tell me where Jerry Diaz hid the money? Never hear much from the union on this one.

It does not matter whether he has dyslexia or not. Children need to be at school.
I support getting rid of unions as this happens every two years when the contract is being negotiated.
Who is next? Teachers.we pay enough tax to support education.
Ask them how many days they work in a year.
Less than 200 days. How many hours in a day? Seven hours or less
This is greediness. Yes, they need a raise, but not 11 percent.
Canada is well known as a strike country internationally.
Strike is making your children unhappy.
Jessica, you don't make any sense.

This interviewer is framing her questions based on incorrect facts. The Union is currently asking for a 6% increase, not an 11% increase. Also, when corrected on the fact that there currently is a surplus of over a billion dollars in education funds the interviewer continues down the same incorrect path. I'm very disappointed with the line of questioning. This interviewer is either not informed with the facts or she is intentionally spreading misinformation.

this was hard to watch. the reporter had 0 listening skills, got several things wrong while talking, including who she was talking to, and whenever corrected she just paused and then continued to steamroll the questions she already had despite them no longer being in the scope of the interview.

either she had an agenda or she was not ready for this interview

Ford is so off the wall. He changes his tune constantly. I guess the pressure got to him.

Really weird that they kept focusing on 11% when that isn’t even what’s going on anymore.

Why wasn’t the news anchor alerted to this?

May be government should screen all sectors and start the pay raise with the ones not getting half of what these protesters are already getting. First bring everyone to fair status and then choose the ones who will get a raise privilege.

Well the Ford government could cancel their $11B highway to no where that isn't needed in the first place.

The government needs to hire more workers not necessarily giving much more money to the existing workers

keep in mind that as with health care, teachers may be given a raise with increased workload snuck in the codicils and addendums. If you can't survive the day because your student load has become open-ended, you really lost the battle as you are now doing the work of 1+ teachers. Tasks/unit of time is an important concept.
