Second Flight of Mars Helicopter Ingenuity, Flying Higher & Horizontally

Показать описание
NASA's Ingenuity Mars Helicopter made a second successful Mars flight on April 22. This time it went higher and slightly moved horizontally. The flight lasted for 51.9 seconds. The helicopter climbed 16 feet (5 meters)
which is higher 6 feet (2 meters) higher than the first flight. It also made different turns to point its camera in various directions before it made a horizontal movement by tilting itself 5 degrees
to accelerate 7 feet (2 meters) sideways.

NASA keeps on gaining its first practical experience of operating a rotorcraft remotely at Mars. The data it gathers will be valuable for potential future Mars missions using next-generation helicopters for more aerial dimension explorations.

Question! Why is Ingenuity's shadow constantly directly under itself for each flight? Are they only planning each flight test at Martian Noon or something?

They should send Ingenuity to the other rover (Insight) which has dust on its solar panels; have it hover and blow the dust off!

Why are the takeoff, landing and lateral movement censored?

I love Hollywood, I love 3DS MAX. I love when there is no dust from the takeoff of the helicopter and there is false dust in my eyes.

My question is, why is the shadow of the 'copter so perfect, so clear and well defined? When you look at the shadow as the 'copter takes off it appears as a dark blob underneath the thing then they show you the copter eye view of the shadow (not in this video, sorry) and it's perfect even the landing feet are well defined. This kind of recks it for me.

Is the apparently excessively rapid descent to ground authentic & if so, does it mean failure?

NASA just received more Martian noise complaints.

They should just fly now! Off into the skies! Set it free!

I was wondering about the ascent and descent frames being missing -- glad this video put a note in about that. Although those seem to me to be the worst ones to be missing or delayed.

So why did it compile and transmitt the data back to earth out of sequence ?

I'm amazed at how sharp the photograph is of the propellor blades' shadow. How do they take such a rapid picture with the blades spinning so fast?

I can't wait until it goes over the first ridge and captures E.T. flipping it off :)
