At the Center for Regenerative Orthopedic Medicine, or CROM, we help patients maintain their own anatomy and return to function – often without surgery or with cutting edge joint preserving surgeries. This is done using various treatments to mitigate symptoms and stimulate the body’s natural healing processes. Under the leadership of doctors Ken Zaslav, MD and Daniel Grande, PhD, and the chairman of Northwell Orthopedics, Nicholas Sgaglione, MD, Northwell leads the way through extensive clinical and basic science research, exploring the potential for cellular regeneration, cartilage repair and joint restoration. Orthobiologic treatments may be useful in patients who have chronic joint pain but are not ready for surgical interventions. Some may have chronic arthritis or tendinopathies that have been unresponsive to standard therapy treatments. Others, such as competitive athletes or dancers with acute sports injuries, may benefit from orthopedic biologics to resume athletics as soon as possible after injury.
