Amid strained India vs Maldives ties, the island nation seems to have learn their lesson. With India's affluent class growing, and travelling more, many countries, airlines and destinations are trying to woo Indian travellers -- roping in celebrities and increasing outreach in India. Maldives is a country that HAD the benefit of having a huge number of Indian tourists, but, their own policies and politics have now cost them hugely. Since 2021, over 2 lakh Indian tourists have visited Maldives. But now, from Indian tourists being the highest visitors to Maldives, Indians have dropped to the 6th spot --- and number of Indian tourists to Maldives continues to decline. This has clearly hit the Maldives tourism industry hard, because now, the island's tour and travel association has reached out to India in a desperate bid to arrest the further slide in tourists from India. Wherever these roadshows are held, patriotic Indians should hold placards listing all the insults India had to suffer through in the last year from a country that benefited hugely from India's generosity. The placards should also advise Indians to boycott Maldives tourism completely.
