Joaquín Turina (like Manuel de Falla) became acquainted with Maurice Ravel and Claude Debussy during his stay in Paris of 1905 to 1914. And in the first part of La Oración del Torero, the influence of Debussy in particular is striking. A brilliant performance! Can't top this any way you'd listen to it.

Excellent! Probably the best version I've heard of this charming and tricky piece. The velvet tone of the primarius at 0:27 (the Pasodoble theme) left me with a lump in my throat. And what an elegant ritenuto to lead back to the tempo primo. And speaking of tone, it's not only equally beautiful by all members, (just listen to the wonderful sound and the expressive phrasing of the cello in the solo passages) but they complement each other perfectly. Sorry if I sound a little too ecstatic but I was waiting for an interpretation of this music that didn'y shy away from the Spanish emotion for fear of "sentimentality" like many others, even Spanish ones. Thank you and congratulations.
