Thanks, Furulevi, after almost an hour of pushing the 18650 caps in every way possible almost to the point of breaking the damned radio, I suspected that I needed to make this mod. 
You validated that the mod works, saved me the experimentation. 
Makes you wonder, do these guys at FrSky even KNOW the meaning of quality assurance? What designer would design the caps, ASSUME that the screws would fit, rely on them to close the circuit, and then NEVER TEST the stupid contraption?
Also makes you wonder all those glowing reviews that highlight how nice it is that instead of the idiotic 18500 you "now can use 18650"... did they even tried before reading the marketing line and spewing it in their reviews? LOL

I will try something tonight and I will come back here to say if work or not: I will use the spring of the originl caps in this bigger caps, I think it will work.
