Water challenges during and post COVID-19, an international webinar series convened by ICCW.
What will be the impact of COVID-induced disinfection on our water system? What will be the additional impact of detergents? What would be the best detergent for this purpose, with reduced water/environmental impact? Can one practice hygiene during water scarcity? Are our water resources safe in this pandemic? Can there be new products and opportunities for the industry? What are the safe practices?
In this context, ICCW has hosted an international webinar series: inaugurated by Shri Parameswaran Iyer, Secretary DWS, GoI, and welcomed by Prof T Pradeep. The first symposium was on the theme of disinfection.
The second symposium on "Detergents and chemicals for disinfection," hosted the speakers: Prof Alok Dhawan, Dr Nimish Shah, Dr Venkataraghavan R, and Mr Venkatesh Deivasigamani; and Mr Seetharaman, Dr Manoj Patel, Mr Monish Bhandari, and Dr Deepthi Subbaraya. Questions were directly addressed by the speakers.
The third symposium was on 'Water and hygiene: best practices,' where eminent speakers such as Prof Bruce Rittmann, Prof Anil Kumar Gupta, Dr Balasangameshwara, Dr Suresh Kumar Rohilla and Mr Ashiwn Suresh, and Prof Indumathi Nambi, Mr Sripati Cowlagi and Mr V R Raman were present.
International Centre for Clean Water (ICCW) is an initiative by the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IITM) started in 2018, located in IITM Research Park, Chennai, India. A bridge between industry and academia, ICCW is a network of eminent water professionals; it considers being the first of its kind and has been established with the objective of creating water professionals for tomorrow.
ICCW houses state of the art equipment needed for water research, product design, incubation, and pilot production, with associated technical, financial, and legal services to nurture innovation. ICCW with its partners across the government, co-operatives, NGOs, and industries will shape the path of delivering clean water through sustainable means.
