Turkey may have calculated that NATO is on a path to war with Russia which would compel Turkey to join in the fight against Russia.

Turkey's economy is already in trouble and she is not a member of the European Union. And besides, Turkey benefits from strong trade with Russia.

Ergogan has spotted the potential for a deal. If he is given enough he will change his mind. Why give away a signature when you could sell it for a high price?

Turkey sought to purchase military defence equipment from the US and UK, but both the US and UK refused, thereafter Turkey went to purchase such military equipments from Russia. Turkish prime minister said it in Qatar and he mentioned that as one of the reasons why it wouldn't sanction Russia. Moreover, Turkey sought to export it's military technology to other NATO allies, both the UK and US refused to give them the export permit. The UK and US are hypocrites.

Actually Turkey has a good reason to oppose the 2 nordic countries from joining. Compare to Croatia's reason for opposing. From Turkey point of view, sweden and finland joining Nato is going against Nato security principle. Imagine protecting a terrorist group that was both listed by Turkey and EU in the name of humanitarian policy. Even without Moscow's influence, Turkey will still stick with their decision and I think its the right thing to do. Both country never understood Ankara's security concern and preventing them can further preven any military escalation from moscow. Turkey took the right choice and hopefully they stick by it no matter what. 👍

Its very clear that Turkey is seeing its own self interest... Nothing about Russia or US.. He is trying to play smart.. But just matter of time someone else will outsmart him

Croatia also oppose accepting Fin & Sweden. I believe they will eventually get in, but at a high price to Turkey, Croatia etc. If they dont it will be a disaster for both governments.

Turkey has the right to address its security concerns, they are not Russia's weapon.

Basically expansionism and politics at the expense of Ukraine, especially if this slowly becomes reminiscent of the old Allied and Axis Powers being established like in WW2.

Its not NATO expansion . Its Finland and Sweden who wants to join and apply for NATO membership. Its two different meaning
