THE RABBIT INVASION | Homestead Garden Fence FAILURE

Показать описание
About 4 years ago, installed a fence around our garden. We first wrapped the bottom with some plastic deer fencing to keep the rabbits out, and then wrapped that with a wood-slat snow fence (sand dune fence). It worked great until last year, when the rabbits realized they could just chew through the plastic, and squeeze their way in - and feast on our garden. Our plan to upgrade, consisted of removing all the old fencing, fixing the t-posts, and then wrapping the entire thing with chicken-wire. Well, things didn't go as planned. Grasses grew through the plastic deer fencing, and basically it absorbed back into the earth. It is not easy to remove. We didn't want to to end up in the same situation a few years down the road - and plus, it's so hard to keep the weeds down along the fence line. So, what we had planned to be an easy project, quickly turned into something much larger. We're going to re-group, and come up with a new plan for the new fence.

LOL. Love it. Course it wasn't gonna get done in a day after 4 years guys. But - Keep dreaming big. And yes - Just go for the dream fence. Or you will be doing it again 4 years from now or sooner.

I have seen a couple of people... use T post and hard wire and/or Cattle panels. When they want to remove the vines, grass or weeds... the use a blow torch. lol Todd? Men + Fire = Happiness.

I can hear the fear in your voice about something coming to eat your peas 😥 sending positive vibes to protect the peas!

Wow! I can definitely relate to your exhaustion after a good day working in the garden...especially at my age (*66). I am starting fresh on our new property setting up raised beds in our front yard. You guys got a real workout!!!
So cute how Todd was holding the baby bunny. It sure was adorable...too bad they are so destructive in the garden. 🐇🐇🐇

The segment where Rachel was advising on living peacefully with the rabbits was hysterical. "Coexist .. kumbaya" as she was breathlessly digging out the fence. That little bunny that Todd held in his hand turned out to be a formidable nemesis!

Such hard work. Baby bunnies were able to make it through the openings of the chicken wire fence I had last year, so I think you are making the right choice.

I love how he is talking to him, like he is trying to reason with a two year old child, lol

I was checking my Ruth Stout potato bed and found a nest with baby bunnies, rather have them then the snake😊

I love the little wooden fence, it looked old and rustic and reminded me of an old English garden, but if it didn't work, not much sense in keeping it up. That bunny was so tame, are you sure you haven't been hand feeding it Todd. LOL. Good luck with new fencing and Todd, maybe it is time to start milling some of the trees on your summer cabin property. Have a Blessed day.

That baby bunny was so stinking cute! They do destroy a garden though. I have lost so many things to the rabbits. I keep threating to keep one for his poop. LOL The white mesh trash cans from dollar tree work great to keep bunnies from eating plants.

My hat is off to both of you for doing such a daunting task!! I’ll bet it will be so pretty with a new fence. Loved the baby bunny. ♥️❣️🙏🏼❣️♥️

I love as you get tired you start trying to decide whether or not you can coexist with the rabbits. Although my first thought if I had anywhere near that many rabbits is... Rabbit stew. I know how absolutely destructive those cute little things can be.

What a chore🙏🏻 oh that bunny was so cute but could do a world of hurt to those peas. Can’t wait to see part two of the fence gone wild project. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Work smarter not harder that’s my philosophy as well. Lol sometimes the simplest jobs turn into the toughest. Y’all done a great job removing the fence though. 👍🏻🙌🏻😊💪🏻
