As an ex-zookeeper, I can assure you there is very little difference between a tiger, and a housecat... behaviorally speaking.

The difference is size.
When you cat randomly swipes at your face in the middle of a petting session for no apparent reason, you recoil and tell him "NO! Why'd you do that? Bad kitty!"
And when the tiger does the same thing, you walk to the corner of the room to pick up your face. Provided you can still walk.
