I did learned it very quickly last year on my 2020 Ford Escape SE. It was so easy to used. There is 2 places in the Escape that works for Apple Car Play. Underneath the vents in front and in center console. I figured it out shortly after that evening when I first got it. I do have the map thing in it which it helps me very much. It was a big upgrade from what I was used to.

How reliable has Sync3 been? Intro in 2017. I ask because there are already (well just one YouTube video) stories of the new RAM 1500 12" NAV screen locking up and wiping clean selections once the engine is turned off. Don't know if that was an isolated example or common. It is a new tech for RAM for the 2019 year...

I used CarPlay on a Ford rental recently so didn’t have too long to play with CarPlay. I wanted to play Apple Music whilst using the Ford sync 3 navigation not Apple maps as cellular coverage was poor. Wasn’t able to get this working so I had to disable CarPlay :( to use the native Ford navigation

Is there a way around this and does this affect your other car brands too?

Can the Sync 3 USB port support progressive charging? Or will it only sustain a charge like in the Sync 2 setup?

I noticed you are in an Expedition. I have a 2016 Expy as well. One thing you should mention is that while ACP is active, you cannot see the outside temperature, nor can you see what your interior temp settings are set to.  Even if you change the temp internally, you are doing it blind. And, another thing... why did they disable the factory NAV while carplay is running?  While I would prefer to use Apple Maps, sometimes you find yourself on a road with no cell service for miles. This is why I wanted the factory nav.  This is a major oversight by Ford. Of course, both of these issues could be solved with an over-the-air update. However, I am not optimistic that they will be addressed at all.

Hey Mike, do you know if it's possible to upgrade Sync 2 to Sync 3? I have a 2015 Focus ST with Sync 2 and My Ford Touch, and that currently allows me to use Siri by holding the voice command button for a couple of seconds, but it would be much better if I could use Sync 3.

I know that 2016 owners are able to change their USB port and update their Sync 3's to enable Car Play, but there isn't much information out there about what options 2015 owners have!

I'm in Scotland and have the same system in my Kuga Vignale. The only problem I have is that if I want to switch back to DAB radio, the only way I find is to unplug my phone. Know any other way??
