View inside an elevator shaft. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS!!!!!!!

DISCLAIMER: Elevator shafts are VERY DANGEROUS places. I was accompanied by a certified elevator technician, and this was one in a controlled environment. DO NOT ATTEMPT any of this stuff unsupervised. Otherwise, you can get seriously hurt or even lead to death at the absolute worst. Anyways, this is a view inside an elevator shaft of an old Dover elevator that got modernized by Kone. You can see the load ware attached to the hoisting ropes as well as the rail block restraining the elevator car preventing it from moving. Never seen anything like this before while working inside the shaft.

I totally agree, elevator shafts are EXTREMELY dangerous places

Only real somewhat safe glimpses of an elevator shaft are from the space between the elevator shaft and cab. If you stand on the door tracks and look up, you can often see a similar shaft. Same goes for a center opening door: I found there can be a gap between the doors in some cases, and I’ve been able to see cables, counterweights (and hydraulic pistons) from there if the elevator is on another floor. Those are two places you can see the shaft if it isn’t a scenic glass shaft. I would never enter the shaft like this unless I was with someone who knew what they were doing, like a technician.

I remeber one time my middle school elevator broke down and I got a slight glimpse of the shaft when I was going to my other class when they were working on fixing it
