Seamus, you should read C.S. Lewis' "The Problem With Pain." He wrestled with the question of "Why does God allow suffering, " and came up with the best explanation I have ever encountered. The book was written shortly after the death of his wife, Joy. The final takeaway is the proposition that no soul will ever be tested beyond the limit of its ability to endure, but no soul shall get into heaven without being tested to that limit.

I could have listened to Michael and Sheamus talking on religion all day. Maybe @mattfradd can ask them on his show!

Seamus: So the answer to life, evil, and suffering is....

Michael Knowles: I look like Rachel Maddow!

I could listen to Seamus and Michael talk about religion for hours and om not even religious. Its fascinating and inspiring, would be happy if it sparked my faith in God again.

I love that the internet has brought us some of the coolest, funny, knowledgeable, and articulate Catholics. This was cool to watch.

"The greatest growth I've known is out of suffering"
I believe this is true because we only know what we can be by rising past the suffering we are experiencing and if we fail to overcome it then we wallow in self pity and lose that chance to grow

I like that you can see Ian just sitting there when the camera pans. It's good for him to listen. He has some odd view about the Bible.

Really cool convo as I watch this as Easter Sunday ends for 2022. As an American/Latino Metalhead, Conservative Bible Christian, with LOTS of Faults . . . It'll be a late-nite as I watch Charlton Heston and "The Ten Commandments". A bit campy but an Epic.

Great conversation between the guys... I would love to see a show spin off of people and guests discussing theology and beliefs of different faith groups as it compares to Christianity.

Interesting conversation about Job from shamus and michael. I'd imagine if Shamus was around the time of greeks he'd have a field day.

So cool to hear these two guys mention Father Mike Schmitz and the Bible in a Year Podcast. My wife and I did it last year and it's good to know how widespread it has become. We originally thought we were the only ones doing it among people we know but are happy to know many others who are now participating in the second year.

Man, how is everyone in the room not a practicing catholic when these two are around. They defend the Faith so beautifully.

Very interesting conversation. Being a thoroughly convinced Protestant, it is interesting to see the continuity and discontinuity between how a reformed protestant would answer these questions and a couple of committed catholic answers them.

Conversations about the eternal truths > conversations about the new idiotic thing some politician has said/done.

It's uncanny this topic came up. Glad you recorded it🤯❤ . Job is one of my all time favorite characters in the Bible, as I can 'completely relate' to Job. At one point Job was digging in his garden, and was asked why he wasn't getting ready to meet Jesus, and he simply replied, because I have always been ready. Ian should read the Book of Job, Chapter 28. I would love to then hear his understanding. Wisdom only comes with age. Was a fantastic show Tim, I wish there was more discussion on theology. Many many people read the Bible, but they cannot understand the meaning, because the 'Spirit' is not within them. It takes a long time, perseverance, including🤔... how can I put this bluntly? Falling to your knees admitting you are not worthy and sobbing uncontrollably for a long time. Greatest experience of my life I will never forget. Then you will have the 'Spirit' and 'Faith'. Cheers and Blessings to 'ALL🙏.
