Garmin GTN-750 Tips

It will take you a couple hours on the GTN Trainer (simulator software) or in a real airplane to explore all the features and attributes of the Garmin GTN Navigators, but I brush on a couple quick tips & tricks in this brief video.

Gary, The reason you can't display terrain AND NEXRAD at the same time is because they both use the same color scheem. You wouldn't know if you were seeing cumulonimbus or cumulogranite.

Niether of which is good of course.

The GTN-750 is amazingly powerful, we have one in the Arrow. A recent update allowed you to create uncharted holds and if you have the right equipment, the AP will fly the entire hold (including entry and exit). It such a massive improvement over the 430 boxes!

The GTN series is so intuitive. The first experience I had was in a C-421 dropping off passengers in Red Wing, MN from Timmerman in Wisconsin. Right after the engines were fired up I was able to get the flight plan, frequencies, and the IFR clearance within a couple minutes. I had no research into this avionics package which I'm not a big fan of but it was a pop-up flight with little time to prepare.

I don’t think the inability to display terrain and weather simultaneously is a limitation. It’s probably intentional due to the similar color gradients of what is being displayed. You wouldn’t want to interpret red ahead as heavy precipitation when it’s in fact a mountain side.

The GTN 750 has to be the most user friendly GPS ever invented ! OMG I Love this thing !

You may not be monitoring this anymore, When you enable NEXRAD and get the big greyed out areas, what is the solution?
In mine you can still see lighting strikes, but you don't get nexrad or base layer in the grey areas, sometimes they are 100 miles across so in weather it's a disadvantage for sure. Thanks !!

Cool GPS, but considering they say it's "more powerful" it's a bit dissapointing that the map takes quite a while to load itself in again when you zoom out. At those prices, I would've expected better responsiveness/no visible map loading in 2022! It should really be as smooth as the iPad.

Why punch a bunch of letters/numbers when you can select an airport waypoint much quicker and easier by choosing NEAREST.

There is no such app called Garmin GTN TRAINER in the Google play store.
