My daughter loves soccer. She has played 3 seasons. This year the 8 yr olds didnt have a volunteer. So it was going to be canceled. My wife asked me and i was like no way, i have no idea how to coach, but then i saw the look on my daughter's face. So i said, you know what, ill do it. I'll learn how to, and her face lit up. Kids needs this. You're the first video i saw. I hope i do a good job. I played a little as a teen... but a coach... I'm terrified.

This video is so helpful. I am my 7 year old’s soccer coach, and I have never coached soccer before in my life. I was the only parent to show up for the meetings but immediately reached out to all the parents when I got home from the meeting. I am so excited to do this! When I found out his team didn’t have a coach I wanted to volunteer to be the coach because it just seems like a way to have some fun with my oldest and teach him a few things.

Great discussion about equipment. I started coaching with that basic set plus four poles that I made from PVC pipe and a large screw attached to the bottom. I used them for goals for 11v11 to make goals a bit larger than the pop up goals. I now use two sets of futsal goals at either end, set to where the outer posts are 24 feet apart, with around a 4-5 foot gap in the middle. We can play with or without a goalie. Withour a goalie, the middle area is a miss, players must kick the ball into one goal or the other.

Your video made me drop a tear. I was gonna try to make a team so my little brothers nd his friends could play nd be more affordable than other teams. Great tip for coaches to be patient. Soccer is such a difficult sport, even professional players launch the ball a mile off target at the goal. Another great tip came from possibly the greatest coach in modern day history, Emma Hayes: Make practice even more challenging than the game and the game will seem easier to them, and LET the kids solve the problems, i.e. you don't need to tell them what to do, i.e. no joystick coaching. Thank you for this video. I am coaching my 8 year old daughter team in November for the first time. Difficulty: we are in Argentina, where soccer rules. Losing a World Cup final match is a failure for us. Luckily, girls soccer is less stressful.
