My son died a couple of years ago by suicide. I can find pieces of him in every song from the Traces album. One of my favorite things about Perry’s voice is the emotion not just in the songs but in his voice. He’s an amazing artist. So gifted and talented. Thank you for coming back into the lives of millions of us. I hope this is not the last album. Please do more.

These songs are way too deep and complex and masterful for most of today's pop culture to relate. Any Perry fan loves and understands the meaning of this record: The lyrical content and the diverse ethereal melodies. Songs like We Fly. There was a time in music where lyrics and melody mattered as did quality song writing/musicianship. Mick Jagger once said: "Music used to be about something; now it's about a beat". To his credit, much of that today seems true. Hearing We Fly almost reminds me of a song written long ago Melody in it's construct, simplicity and emotional vocal. Love how this record reflects Heart, Soul and Simplicity: No mistaking that it is the one and only "Voice" missing from Music for so long.

TRACES = An indication that something has been present + A suggestion of some quality...could not be more true of this genius behind Traces...Steve Perry is back and back as himself not Journey but a merger of Trial by Fire and the remnants of the Love of a Strange Medicine and love, pain, sadness and life in general...this is an album that grows and needs to be listened over and over...after 5-6 times it becomes a sonic and ethereal masterpiece...beautifully waved as tapestry of sounds & emotions, perfectly crafted songs with soft rock almost acoustic wall of sound and that heavenly voice that only Steve Perry possess...Once Steve said, that there is no need to reinvent his or Journey's music...this is Steve Original but for a new age...Trial by Fire was his masterpiece and it was soft...this picks up where that one left----amazing! And for the record and to all of you there that "are utterly dissapointed and bored" with this Album, remember that this is still one of the finest voices of rock and talent non plus ultra...if it is mellow and soft so what - get used to it...days of Frontiers and Raised on Radio are gone...this is Steve Perry of 2018 blending the best from soft solo efforts and from Trial by Fire...enjoy as the great musicians is back!

Listen to this music frequently. Lost my only child (son) to a incurable aggressive cancer. I didn't get but, 10 months after diagnosis. The music makes me feel like I am not alone with the pain. Love Steve and the music. Always have been a true fan.❤

I still think this should be released as single...this is the #1 on the album. The vocal reminded me of Steve Perry's glorious '80s tones and power. Such a highlight from the album...and there are (thankfully) others.

This one is MY FAVORITE on this new album. It's largely acapella - with little instruments. Fantastic singing and spiritually sweet lyrics.  Still such a beautiful voice -"THE voice."
