Dance Alloy Fall 2015 - Anna & Jen's Dance (The Rules)

Colorguard is normally not viewed as a dance. It's
mostly known for being part of marching band shows
or military presentations. However, the movement of a
flag in synchronization with one's body results in a
powerful image full of grace and intensity. Colorguard
was a part of our lives throughout high school and
since coming to Earlham, we have missed the sense of
joy we once got from spinning. This routine is our way
of breaking the rules of a typical dance alloy "dance"
to bring colorguard to Earlham. We find colorguard
unique because it combines rigid hits and strict
synchronization with flow and elegance. Our version of
colorguard simultaneously creates rules, breaks rules,
and extends rules.
