🚨🐟 UNDERCOVER On A Faroese Salmon Farm | with @meganmccubbinwild

A few weeks ago @meganmccubbinwild visited a salmon farm on the Faroe Islands– what she saw shocked her– it's an environmental and social disaster, it cannot go on.

Yet Bakkafrost in the UK are certified RSPA Assured. What will it take for the RSPCA to suspend the Assured Scheme? 🎣🍣

Same going on here in Ireland. Not only unethical regarding the poor creatures inside the cages, but a threat to the health of our wild salmon. On 11th August there was a large escape of farmed salmon in Killary Harbour, Co. Galway – estimated at between 10, 000 and 30, 000 fish.

Well done for bringing this to light! ✨⭐

The RSPCA need to look at many aspects of the food production industry. I do not trust the label on food packaging that says RSPCA assured for this very reason.

As a species we are shocking. The things we knowingly do to this planet and its wildlife is at times shameful. Even if we just took a selfish perspective it's still utter madness because we can't live on a dead planet. Will we wake up before it's too late though? Thank you Megan and Chris for doing all you do to hold up a mirror to our behaviour.

Well done .Years agoI visited a Australia and my friend there took me to a talk about the dangers and evils of factory fish farming . It was a game changer for me .The only winners are the wealthy CEO.. .Public paying for chemically affected fish are not The chickens and fish are not meant to be industries .chemicals come with your meal .Wonder no more why there is so much cancer these days .and second hand antibiotics are never meant to be .

i've always said this, i've seen pictures of the sea bed directly under these salmon nets it's dead except for the sort of growths you see outside sewerage outfall pipes

As long as animals are a commodity to be purchased and consumed, no amount of welfare assurances will stop this kind of thing being widespread- whether it's fish, pigs, chickens, cows, sheep or any other sentient creature being raised for human food. The RSPCA need to step up and move to an abolitionist stance rather than a welfare one, and be honest with the public that for most people in the UK, the most impact they can have in reducing horrific animal suffering is to stop eating them.

Thank you, I’ve avoided farmed salmon for a while now, this has added data to the small amount of info and assumptions I’ve had.

I am glad I don't eat salmon or own any pets that might. This is basically, oceanic factory farming with dire environmental effects. And the RSPCA are allowing it to happen? Disgraceful, seems as though a lot of the animals they 'save' are fed on this stuff! Well done for bringing this to the attention of us that had no idea about the conditions and consequences!

Thanks for highlighting. Hard to believe that this is one of the more respectable farms. More community/local farming is the way forward.

Thanks for making this video. People need to be educated about how the food on their plate is raised and this is certainly not acceptable. The RSPCA should be ashamed for giving this their "assured" label.

It's the classic "make the consumer feel happier about buying this product" certification scheme. Like "dolphin friendly" tuna, pretty much any "sustainably sourced" fish, etc

Great to see steady flow of films getting into the public realm ... but still at family lunch my dear aunt chose salmon despite knowing my mother's and my views (and campaigning) ... work still to be done to switch off those stubborn aunts and uncles, but more importantly to shame nations reputations who chose to host the industry.

Thank you for this info. I was looking at a restaurant menu, and noticed they sell Faroe salmon. No, thank you. Ick. Won't support that mess.

I dispair at our ignorance and greed. Factory farming in any form is an abomination. Its detremental to Wildlife, the animals themselves and of couse our own lives.
Not to foget the slavery of people in this industry and Scallop dredging. We are sick and need to heal, especially from the few who are living in GREED, making life a disaster for all of us.
