Global Covid deaths pass three million

This comes as the latest 24-hour government figures show nearly 120,000 people received their first dose of the Covid vaccine yesterday. Nearly half a million people had their second dose - a new record. More than 32 million people have now received their first dose of a vaccine and nine and a half million people have had both doses.

The global death figures have surged again in recent days due to variants of the disease hammering health workers.

And, my friends, this is why we can't have anything nice. Less than 1/100th of 1% of the world population had died from the virus, a total of 3 million. Yet at the same time, around the world, 18 million have died from the lockdown (mostly in Africa, but also Europe, America and Asia).

In an average year 6 million people die from COPD & lower respiratory diseases worldwide, 9 million die of heart attacks and 6 million die from strokes. Some perspective needed.
