Zhea Erose - Glitterdance, 31-EDO [microtonal groove]

Lately I have been falling in love with the sound of 31-EDO. Last night I got really inspired and made this piece in one sitting. I love how 31-EDO can access so much more of the harmonic series whilst still providing tremendous intervallic diversity.

This piece is very impromtu and spur of the moment, so I hope you enjoy! I decided to do vocal scat, overtone singing, and general vocal improvisation over it. Singing and voice leading in 31-EDO is so cool!

This is some of the best microtonal singing I've heard. One of the problems with microtonal music is that there isn't enough stuff like this. It often suffers from being dopey or uninteresting, aside from being microtonal. Not so with this. This is really great music and it's super solid use of 31 TET. I love it (:

Really interesting stuff. I like your use of vocal overtones. Given the subject matter of my channel, I'm obviously more familiar with undertones, which might be something you might look into sometime. I've noticed a lot of unusual microtonal fluctuation when producing undertones with the voice, but don't have the ear or the language to describe it well.
