RTX Broadcast Engine is Pretty Cool! Logitech Buys StreamLabs and More...

Let’s get started with some streaming news. It’s twitch-con after all!
On Nvidia’s side, they announced that their RTX GPU’s will use its AI powers to put an end to green screens. Actually it does a lot more, but its all part of their RTX Broadcast engine. For RTX greenscreen, its pretty self explanatory, the engine will allow for background removal so you can stream without a big green thing behind you. I gotta say, I’ll have to try that one. While my setup is pretty useful and doesn’t take much space, its just 2 sticks with some green cloth in the middle. It is pretty annoying to light properly. And yes, I know, background removal has been a thing for years, but its always been pretty spotty, and the only cameras that did ok were the ones with depth sensors. the added processing power with RTX might actually make it worth a try.

The other 2 features in the RTX Broadcast engine are kinda just extra fluff. There’s the style filter that creates a filter based on the picture you feed it, and there’s an AR SDK that allows you to track faces for masks and other things like that.

The Oculus Quest getting the ability to play Oculus Rift and Rift S games is really huge. It kind of makes it the Nintendo Switch of VR. The fact that it also got hand tracking could render the Valve Knuckles totally obsolete, but thats fully dependent on if developers are quick to implement it. Almost makes it a must-buy for anyone interested in PC VR, particularly now that almost any other solution costs 700+ USD
