The Different Types of Redshift in Astrophysics

The Light we see from space is different to how it was when it was emitted. Internal motions of galaxies, gravity and the accelerating expansion of the Universe itself change and shift how light moves through them.

Many are familiar with the Doppler Effect and assume that all redshift is analogous only applied for light - which is not the full picture. This quick video explains the different types of redshift we see in astrophysics.
