Optional Rule for Laying Off:
Once a player has ended the round with 13 deadwood points or fewer (this is called knocking), the two opponents may lay off cards from their hands. Lay off deadwood cards that can be added to the knocker's melds. For example, if the player who knocked has a red13, blue13, green13, and the opponent has a yellow thirteen as deadwood, they can lay off that card onto the knocker's meld. This helps the non-knockers shed some extra points. If one of the non-knockers are able to lay off enough cards to undercut the knocker, the undercutting occurs and awards the non-knocker who did so the 25 points as well as their opponents' deadwood value.
